Libyan Challenge 2009
10.02.2009
As official sponsor, SCOTT is proud to announce that it will once again support the Libyan Challenge, taking place February 22 to March 1 2009, in the deserts of North Africa.
For those who don’t know about the Libyan challenge, let’s be honest: this is no regular footrace. More than 100 ultra-runners from around the globe will attempt to run 124 miles straight, across the Libyan desert.
We are not talking here about a stage race either. All that is known is the start line and the finish line - everything in between is up to the runners, who will have to tackle this epic race in a self-supported style. The race organization will only provide the runners with water at control stations every 20k along the route, a route that the runners will have to define themselves with the help of a GPS.
Race Director Jean-Marc Tomasini has everything secured and together with the 40 people that make up his team (fully geared up by Scott), he will ensure the safety of all runners with a professional medical staff at every control station.
Scott truly wishes the runners all the best for this race - may they reach their personal goals and objectives.
