Marino blasts Antwerp 70.3 http://www.scottusa.com/de_de/news/running/2141/marino_blasts_antwerp_703 Thu, 06 Aug 2009 2:15:11 -0600

The titleholder of the Commerzbank Triathlon Team took the lead on the bike course and his persecutors were not able to close the gap until the finish line. In the end, he was more than three and a half minutes faster than the second-placed Paul Matthews.

This season, Marino Vanhoenacker was the man to beat so far: He participated in four races and won three of them. In the fourth race, he finished second. “At the moment everything’s perfect”, said the Belgian after his success. “And it’s always special to win at home.” The 33-years-old had won Ironman Austria just four weeks ago: “I’m happy about this performance so soon after the Ironman Austria. But I’m going to boost even more at the World Championship in October. In Hawaii, I want to show the race of my life.” ]]>
Twelsiek for the win in Lake Placid, Brader second http://www.scottusa.com/de_de/news/running/2133/twelsiek_for_the_win_in_lake_placid_brader_second Thu, 30 Jul 2009 3:47:45 -0600 Maik Twelsiek celebrated the second Ironman victory of his career yesterday at Ironman USA Lake Placid in 8:36:37 hours. This also means the fourth Ironman title for the Commerzbank Triathlon Team this season. A few weeks ago, he had to cancel his start at Ironman Germany due to illness and now he enjoyed his success even more: “Today my legs were just brilliant. And the beautiful course boosted me”, said the athlete from Lemgo in Germany.

Twelsiek was third out of the water and part of the leading group. On the bike course, he rapidly took the lead and was keeping it until the finish line. The athlete of the Commerzbank Triathlon Team extended his lead up to 20 minutes ahead of the second-placed Scott-Athlete Christian Brader from Germany(Scott Plasma2, LTD Road Shoes, Makani Running Shoes, and TRI Clothing) and Jason Shortis of Australia.

With this outstanding performance, Maik Twelsiek proved once again that he is one of the world’s best young Ironman talents. With his 14th place at his first start in Hawaii last year he already exceeded the expectations. Then he qualified for the World Championship this year finishing fifth at Ironman Australia. When the world class Ironman athletes compete for the World Championship title at Hawaii on October 10th, Twelsiek will be part of them as well as all his seven teammates.

Yet he does not see himself as one of the favourites at Kona: „Having a look only at the competitors in the Commerzbank Triathlon Team, there are several athletes who can play among the field leaders: Normann Stadler already won twice in Hawaii and Timo is a twice European Champion. Marino Vanhoenacker won Ironman South Africa and Ironman Austria this year. And in addition to Mathias Hecht’s eighth place in Kona last year, he proved with a fifth place at Ironman Germany that he belongs to the world’s best long distance triathletes

Teuchner loves the Plasma2 http://www.scottusa.com/de_de/news/running/2113/teuchner_loves_the_plasma2 Tue, 21 Jul 2009 3:50:39 -0600 Wolfgang Teuchner (Team ERDINGER) did the second best bike split (4:16:01) at the Quelle Challenge Roth IRONMAN Race. The young athlete from Munich hammering his SCOTT PLASMA2 and catching one after the other. The “proven bike-specialist” went out of Transition 2 on the second place. But couldn’t stay on this position for a long time.

After two kilometers of running the fun was already over: "I had severe back pain after cycling, but I can’t explain why. It was not because of my position; the PLASMA is a great bike. Let’s say the first five to ten kilometers. I'm not a good runner anyway, but because of the pain I was naturally slow. But on the other side I am very happy with my perfect bike-split!” Teuchner made himself no illusions, keeping up the ranking to the end of the race.

Finishing 12th with personal best of 8:23:17 seems not too bad. Wolfgang and Scott Sports can look forward to a bright future.

With no doubt the PLASMA2 is the fastest timetrial bike in long distance races. Last year Ain-Alar Juhanson had the fastest 2008 bike split in Kona/ HAWAII.

The race course, the weather and the millions of people cheering on the streets of the remote countryside of Roth make this fast race times possible. Norminator finishing fourth using his Scott Plasma Bike and his Scott Makani RC Running Shoes after German Michael Göhner, the Australian Pete Jacobs and Richard Usher from New Zealand.

Normann Stadler said: “Michael did a great job including a fantastic run. There were three guys faster than me today, but I’m definitely in schedule for Kona.”

The athlete of Commerzbank Triathlon Team had with 4:14:42 hours one of the fastest bike splits ever in the history of long distance triathlons. More than that his personel best is now 08:03:43 in an IRONMAN Race.

Wolfgang Teuchner and Chris Brader looking forward to their summer highlights in Roth July 13th (GER) and Lake Placid July 26th (USA).

In the small bavarian town of Erding both were well in shape placing 2nd and 3rd behind Michael Göhner (GER). Wolfgang boosts his record on the bike split within 1 minute and was very happy with an average speed of 45 km/h on the 49km bike split, due to the heavy blowing wind.

Sibylle Matter won silver at Cross-Triathlon EM http://www.scottusa.com/de_de/news/running/2029/sibylle_matter_won_silver_at_cross_triathlon_em Fri, 05 Jun 2009 1:47:02 -0600 Cross Triathlon European Championships in Orosei, Sardinia (Italy), which was part of the XTERRA Italy series, held over 1.5 km swimming, 30 km MTB and 10 km Trail-Running Sibylle Matter (Switzerland) once again could win the silver medal in this stunning race only 20 seconds behind her compatriot Renata Bucher.

“With my performance, I am well pleased, but with the ranking, I am a little bit disappointed because after two second ranks in the Cross Triathlon European Championships in 2007 and 2008 I dreamed of the title this year. In any case, I am delighted with the great running-Performance and am now confident for the Ironman 70.3 in Rapperswil by next Sunday.”

Jan Raphael places fourth in New Zealand Ironman http://www.scottusa.com/de_de/news/running/1837/jan_raphael_places_fourth_in_new_zealand_ironman Mon, 16 Mar 2009 3:10:28 -0600

The Dresdner Kleinwort Triathlon Team had been training in Australia for the last six weeks. Like Normann Stadler, Jan uses the SCOTT Makani RC racing shoe and enjoys the fast and lightweight characteristics of the Makani RC. “The Makani RC is THE shoe to put in a lot of miles," said Raphael. "For a long-distance shoe you have to make little compromise on weight. This maybe slows you down on the first miles, but you win confidence with stability and comfort when it gets close to the finish line.”

However, Jan was unlucky - he had a pair of his Makani RC shoes stolen from in front of his apartment just two days before the race.  We would like to remind fans that these shoes are available in shops too !

Stadler vs Vernay at Roth Challenge http://www.scottusa.com/de_de/news/running/1772/stadler_vs_vernay_at_roth_challenge Thu, 26 Feb 2009 3:03:45 -0700 Normann Stadler, Ironman Champion, will attend the Roth Challenge in Germany.

Said the SCOTT-sponsored athlete, “I don’t have to qualify for Hawaii. Thus I don’t have to take part in a qualifying Ironman. I would rather come up against Macca and all the other famous Ironman stars only once a year. That leaves me with less pressure which is good, as I achieved my best results in such conditions.”

We can expect a great performance, especially on the bike leg, which is known to be very fast. This is where he intends to beat Thomas Hellriegel's record of 4 hours 14 minutes.

Stadler will be in Roth on July 12 to go for the win. Currently, his strongest opponents are the Dane Tordjirn Sindballe, New Zealander Kieran Doe and last year’s winner Patrick Vernay.
