European championship titles for Vogel and Schurter

www.swisspowerteam.ch

A very successful Swiss team attended the MTB European championship in St. Wedel (Germany): Florian Vogel (Elite), Nino Schurter (U23) and Nathalie Schneitter (Women U23) won gold, while Matthias Flückiger (U23) and Matthias Rupp (Juniors) earned bronze!
Sauser (2nd), Vogel (1st) and Fuglsang (3rd)

After a disputable disqualification in the team race on Friday, the riders of the Swisspower Moutainbike team (Vogel, Schurter and Rupp) showed grit and determination and all won a medal. Florian Vogel’s achievement was outstanding. He put the world's elite riders behind him and won a well-deserved first international title. Even Julien Absalon accepted the victory of Vogel and said that if he couldn't win then he is glad that Florian did.   Florian Vogel

With the wins Vogel and Schurter took another big step towards China but nothing is decided just yet. Christop Sauser (ranked 2nd) and Ralph Näf (ranked 4th) still have a chance to qualify to compete at the Olympic Games.
