UCI honors Frischi for his career
Ride.ch
The UCI kneels down for Thomas Frischknecht: the Union Cyclist International honors the legend for a long career filled with many achievments. Most recently, Frischknecht is the only athlete at the 2008 World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy who also took part in the first World Championships, way back in 1990.
Frischi, as he has come to be known, will conclude his career this year. He has influenced the sport of mountain biking in Switzerland for almost 20 years now and even at the age of 38, he is still one of the fastest mountain bikers in the world. And if the weather is rainy and cold at the 2008 Worlds, he might once again achieve greatness. He is famous for his toughness when the conditions are difficult, and has been since the beginning of his career. In a World Cup years ago, he defeated John Tomac when the weather was rainy, running away on an uphill while it was pouring.

Thomas Frischknecht
Today Frischknecht is an icon of mountain biking and he will be missed among the main group of riders for sure, but he will always be remembered by the people in mountain biking. Going forward, he will remain involved in the sport as one of the owners of the Swisspower team and he has also created his own camp, the “Frischi Bike School”.
