Gibo Thinking of Enrico

www.bicirace.com

Don't forget that Gilberto Simoni has a newborn son at home in Trento. Just prior to the Tour de France his wife gave birth to their second child, Enrico. Gibo had to go and do his job in France but thinks about his family all the time.

"Enrico is doing great," said Gilberto Saturday morning. "I am still calling every night. It is only normal for me to miss my new son. I carry a photo of him on my mobile phone, which I view often."

"I am rooming with [Francisco] Ventoso, and at night while he is playing games on his computer I will usually call home. Also, to relax, I will watch films in the hotel room."

Gibo is passing the time in these hot transition stages and waiting for the Alps to appear. Our Italian friend confirmed that he will no longer ride for the GC but instead will focus on a possible stage win. Of course there will also be help for his younger teammates, like Ventoso and De La Fuente.

"I am happy for David [De La Fuente]. The other day he did a good thing by retaking the climber's jersey. It was a hard day."
