Two in One
Ransom 10 German mountain bike magazine BIKE is famous for its detailed testing and comparisons between bikes from different manufacturers. The February issue includes the testing and comparison of lightweight, all mountain and enduro class bikes. We are happy to inform you that the Scott Ransom received a “sehr gut” [very good] rating among nine leading brands and out of the three brands that also received “sehr gut”, Ransom earned the most amount of points to be the winner of its class. Here is the English summary of the article and the graphs that were provided for better comparison.
The bikes were tested and scored under three categories.
- Uphill - geometry/handling, front and rear resilience, weight, efficiency, bottle holders (max points 48)
- Downhill - geometry/handling, front and rear resilience, saddle position, brakes, tires, stiffness (max points 72)
- Extras - component spec, visual appeal, frame finish and warranty (max points 30)
When the wrecking crew at BIKE compared the frames, Ransom also earned high scores to have another “sehr gut”. In this chapter the frames were valued in weight, stiffness, all mountain capabilities, linkage, pedaling efficiency, rear triangle, finish and craftsmanship. Ransom received top scores in all mountain capabilities, linkage, rear triangle and craftsmanship.
The individual article for Ransom 10 states that this bike is a true two in one bike. Even though Ransom was not the lightest or stiffest bike in this test, centerpoint technology and it’s Equalizer TC shock offers three travel modes, with associated geometry, at your fingertips. Choose between “Lockout” mode, “Traction” mode with 90 mm (3.5 inches) of travel and “All Travel” mode giving you 165 mm (6.5 inches) of smooth travel. Each travel mode alters the bottom bracket height and head angle to give you the perfect geometry for any situation. This alone makes the Ransom the most versatile bike among the other bikes tested. This also makes Ransom the Flagship for this class. Ransom’s range starts middle of all mountain, through enduro and reaches all the way to the middle of the freeride category. Who would not want a bike that can do it all…?
